CAMROSE, AB - On Vikes for Tykes weekend, the University of Alberta, Augustana Vikings defeat King's College Eagles 79-64, Friday night at Augustana Gym.

With the win, the Vikings improve to 4-1 on the season and take sole possession of second place in the ACAC North Division, trailing the Lakeland Rustlers by two points. On the other hand, the Eagles remain in sixth place with a 1-3 record.

Leading the night in points was fourth-year forward Lauren Cardinal with 18 points, while fellow forward Katie Ballhorn netted 14 points. Across the court, the Eagles' success came from starter Gaddiel Kamuanya Tshiunza with 14 points, and off the bench, Alyssa Yorke earned herself 12 points.

The Vikings commanded the night, going on a 10 point run to start the game before Zoe Zurowski got the visitors on the board. The Vikings would continue to roll through the quarter to lead, 29-16.

Not stopping there, the home side kept rolling, outscoring their guests 21-16 in the second quarter to head into the half with an 18 points lead, 50-32.

Both teams struggled to get back on the court in the third, scoring a combined 21 points in the quarter and combining for seven fouls. Still maintaining their lead, the Vikings held onto their lead, 61-42.

Chipping away at the Vikings lead in the fourth and final quarter, the Eagles won the quarter 22-18. However, their last quarter effort would prove to be too late as the Vikings take the victory, 79-64.

Looking ahead, the Vikings will rest and recharge over the holiday break, returning to the court on January 14th in Edmonton as they take on the Eagles once again. Meanwhile, the Eagles will take on cross-town rivals the NAIT Ooks, hoping to secure two points. Catch all the action on ACACTV!
