Recruit Announcement: Aryana Anderson to Join Vikings Women's Soccer

1. What position do you play?

Goalkeeper

2. How long have you played your sport? Where did you play your high school and club sport?

I have played soccer for 14 years and played for  Archbishop O’Leary High School team and Phoenix Sherwood park soccer club. 

3. What are your personal goals as a player at Augustana?

My goal is to keep growing my skills, confidence, and leadership on and off the pitch. I want to stay consistent, communicate with purpose, and be someone my team can depend on, while continuing to challenge myself and enjoy the journey. 

4. What academic program are you enrolled in and why?

I chose Sustainability Studies BA, at Augustana because I want to be part of creating positive change, whether big or small. I hope to contribute to a brighter future for the world by learning how we can support local communities, respect different perspectives, and build a more sustainable and connected future

5. Why did you choose Augustana Campus and the University of Alberta?

I chose Augustana Campus for its close knit community and the chance to build meaningful connections with classmates and professors. It feels like a supportive environment where I can grow both academically, athletically, and personally

6. Who is someone that inspired you to play?

As a young player, Diana Matheson inspired me through the opportunity to meet and train with her, showing me what dedication and hard work at the highest level looks like. Allison Becker also influenced me as a goalkeeper, I look up to him for his confidence, consistency, and presence in goal, which motivates me to improve my own game.

7. What other hobbies do you have?

Outside of soccer, I really enjoy spending time in nature and I enjoy actives like fishing, camping, kayaking. I also really enjoy photography and capturing special moments outdoors. 

8. What drives you to succeed

What drives me to succeed is the desire to represent my indigenous identity with pride and to make a positive impact through everything I do. My parents push and support me to always give my best, and I hold myself to high standards because I want to be the best version of myself possible
