CAMROSE, AB - After two strong opening weekends of play, Courtney Kirchner has earned the title of Vikings Athlete of the Week for her solid performance on the pitch.
The Vikings Women’s Soccer team officially kicked off their 2025 campaign on the September 5-6 weekend, hosting their first home match of the season against the Ambrose Lions. Kirchner wasted no time making her presence felt, firing three shots and finding the back of the net to help secure a hard-fought draw for her team.
Her momentum carried into the following weekend, where she once again rose to the occasion. Facing the Medicine Hat Rattlers, Kirchner was the difference-maker—scoring the lone goal of the match for the Vikings. With three more quality chances on net, she kept the Rattlers’ defense on their heels all game, showcasing her ability to both generate opportunities and finish under pressure.
Kirchner’s consistency, leadership, and knack for stepping up in crucial moments have not only fueled the Vikings’, but have also set the tone for the season ahead.
Next up, the Vikings return home for a pair of back-to-back matches. On Saturday, September 20 at 1:00pm, they’ll face the Olds College Broncos, followed by a showdown against the Lethbridge Kodiaks the very next day, also at 1:00pm. With only four home games remaining on the schedule, Vikings fans won’t want to miss the chance to cheer on their team and watch standout players like Kirchner in action.
