Viking's Women Volleyball team is pleased to announce the signing of Brooklyn Swain to the 2020-2021 roster. Brooklyn, who is a product of the highly successful Jr. Dino's Club, will bring a dynamic skill set to the team next season.
Brooklyn will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Law, Crime and Justice Studies The 6'0 middle blocker from Airdrie was drawn to Augustana because of the community feel on campus "I feel you are a name and not just a number when on campus." While drawn to the smaller campus life, Swain is no stranger to big time competition. Being part of the Jr. Dino's Club has enabled her to compete and train at the highest levels in the province. Also, at her high school, George McDougall High, she received the Most Outstanding Athlete award and appears primed to do big things at the ACAC level.
Brooklyn brings with her a physical game at the net, a style of play that Head Coach, Steve Enright, values highly. "Brooklyn has the game to immediately make an impact at the ACAC level. She is athletic and has the size and aggressive nature to be a force for us. Most importantly, I feel Brooklyn is a genuine person who adds to the culture and character of our program, I am thrilled to have her part of Vikes Nation!"
The Vikings are coming off their most successful season in team history, going 20-4 in regular season before finishing 4th at the ACAC Conference Championships. The team is losing some key athletes from that team but Coach Enright notes, "with the quality of athletes returning and the exceptional recruiting class that Brooklyn is part of, we feel this season is not a rebuild but rather a reload."
