GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB - The GPRC Wolves hosted the Augustana Vikings in their Season Home Opener. The first game in over 20 months, was an exciting evening. We opened the night with a land acknowledgment, a prayer from GPRC Elder Teresea Gladue and the singing of O'Canada in Cree.

GPRC Wolves fall behind early in the 1st quarter. At 12:4 Coach Bill Bradley calls a timeout. Wolves continue to struggle to score and the Vikings scored 18 to the Wolves 6.

First to score in the 2nd quarter was the Wolves, scoring 5 points before the Vikings put a point on the board. Vikings call a timeout at 18:11. #8 Jayden Demchuk drains a 3 pointer to close the gap at 4 points. Jayden then it's a jump shot with 5 minutes left to come within 3 points. 22:19 Vikings. #5 Makayla Porteous hits a huge 3 point to put the Wolves up 25:24. An exciting quarter ends 33:32, Vikings.

The Vikings showed their presence in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Wolves in the first 5 minutes 16:4. That leaves the Wolves with a deficit of 47:36. The quarter ends 63:42 in favor of the Vikings.

Little scoring in the 4th leads to a Wolves timeout with 5 minutes remaining. They close the gap at 20 with a couple good free throws from #9 Sophie Leslie.

The Player of the Game for Vikings was #15 Hannah Mitchell.

The Player of the Game for the Wolves was #20 Raylene Badger.

The next set of Home Games for the Wolves is next weekend November 19th and 20th when they host the Concordia Thunder. Game times are 8pm and 3pm respectively.
