Vikes for Tykes 4th Annual Toy Drive

Vikes for Tykes 4th Annual Toy Drive

Augustana Vikings will be hosting the 4th annual "Vikes for Tykes Toy Drive" this upcoming weekend of November 29 - 30. Toys will collected during the last regular season games for volleyball, basketball, and hockey to be donated to the Stollery Children's Hospital, as well as the Camrose Kinettes.

The Vikes for Tykes Toy Drive is a way to bless families that are specifically in need this Christmas season. Toys will be distributed throughout the community to The Kinette Club of Camrose Silent Santa Program, as well as the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton. The community can join the Augustana Vikings reach their goal of 750+ toys during the Viking's final games of the fall semester. In return, each toy donation will provide free admission to one of the Viking games.

Toys will be collected at each of the following games:

Women's Volleyball: November 29 @ 6:00 PM

Men's Volleyball: November 29 @ 8:00 PM

Men's Hockey: November 29 @ 7:30

Women's Basketball: November 30 @ 6:00 PM

Men's Basketball: November 30 @ 8:00 PM

With the hope of everyone's participation, donation bins will be present throughout several areas in the Forum, including Augustana Library from November 26th - December 6th. Toys with a 10$ value, left packaged and unwrapped can be donated at any time. Organizations have expressed high demand for certain types of toy donations, including but not limited to: grocery store gift cards, fleece blankets, portable dvd players, craft kits, and crib mobiles. The full list can be found at www.govikings.ca/community/vikesfortykes.

This toy drive was first introduced by former Viking's Alumni Brett Ponich and Nicole Brockman three years ago in 2016. The goal of this student athlete-led drive has been a way to give back to the community from all the support our athletes have received. As well, it has allowed the opportunity to create a sense of unity within Augustana's campus and uphold a positive reputation of the University around the community of Camrose.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity this Christmas Season.
